depend on what database modules, or item banks, you're licensed for and choose to install.

Installation FAQ

The Setup wizard says "The .NET Framework 2.0 must be installed..." and won't continue

Browse the contents of the Acces4 CD using My Computer (you may need to right-click on your CD drive and
select Explore to prevent the Acces Setup wizard from running). Double-click the dotnetfx.exe file to install
the .NET Framework. Once .NET is installed, run the Acces4 Setup wizard again.

The Setup wizard says "Administrator rights are required to install Acces4..." and won't
	continue

Either log in with an account that has Administrative rights, or ask a System Administrator to install Acces for you.

Can I install Acces on a network?

Yes, you can. There are four steps involved in installing Acces on a network:

Install Acces4 on a workstation

Copy the Acces4 installation to a server and run anetcnf.exe

Ensure .NET 2.0 is installed on the workstations

Grant FullTrust permission to Acces4 by running accespol.bat

Create an Acces4 shortcut on the workstations

For notes on performing these steps, including tips on how to automate steps 2-4 across multiple
computers, see the article Acces4 for Windows® — Network Installation

Can I run the Acces setup.exe installer program from a network?

Your school or district might have a version of the Acces installer on its network. If this is the case,
EducAide recommends copying the setup.exe program from the network to the local computer before installation.
If you try to run setup.exe directly from a shared network drive, Acces may give you an error message and
	back out of the installation.

Please see the article Acces4 for Windows® — Network Installation for
information about installing Acces4 for use across a network.

Where's the shortcut to the Acces program?

The shortcut to the Access program can be found in the Start Menu > All Programs > Acces 4 folder.
You can copy this shortcut to your desktop or any other convenient location.

The Setup wizard says my keycode isn't typed in correctly

Look again at the keycode printed on the CD sleeve. Be sure you have typed 5 groups of 6 characters, each
separated by a hyphen. For example:

123456-ABCDEF-789012-GHJKLM-345678

Make sure you use the numbers 0 and 1 and not the letters O and I. School names and keycodes are not casesensitive,
but spacing and punctuation must match the label on your CD sleeve.

I have Acces 3.x installed on my computer. Do I need to remove it before installing Acces4?

No, you do not need to remove it. You can run both Acces 3.x and Acces4 on the same computer. Acces4 will
open documents created by Acces 3.x, but the reverse is not true (Acces 3.x will not open documents created by
	Acces4).

It is probably best to remove Acces 3.x if you don't plan on using it anymore. Do this by simply deleting the
program folder, normally C:\ACC. Don't forget to back up any of your files in the Docs subfolder, or any graphics
or input files that you created or modified.

      Installation FAQ

I get a warning saying "This package contains a program that determines if the software can be
      installed." What should I do?

Click Continue when asked. Doing so lets the Acces4 setup program verify your school name and keycode
so that it can install the correct database modules.

The installer asks for an administrator's name and password after I click Install

If you have administrative rights, you can enter your login information and continue. If you don't have
administrative rights, you'll need to find a System Administrator to help you install Acces.

Look again at the keycode printed on the CD sleeve. Be sure you have typed 5 groups of 6 characters, each
separated by a hyphen. For example:

I have Acces 3.x installed on my Mac. Do I need to remove it before installing Acces4?

No, you do not need to remove it. You can run both Acces 3.x and Acces4 on the same Mac, but it's probably best
to remove Acces 3.x if you don't plan on using it anymore. Do this by moving the old program folder, usually
/Acces, to the Trash. Don't forget to back up any of your files in the Docs subfolder, or any graphics or
input files that you created or modified.

Can I install Acces on a network?

Unfortunately, there are no plans to support network installations of Acces4 for Mac.

I've just installed Acces4, but can't find it. Where is it?

It's in the /Applications folder of the volume, or disk, you selected during the setup process. Look for the
      Acces4 subfolder.
